NEW ADS: Shapiro for Pennsylvania Releases New TV Ads Highlighting the Costs of Mastriano’s Extremism, Shapiro’s Economic Priorities

“While Pennsylvania families face day to day challenges, Doug Mastriano is focused on all the wrong things, like making abortion illegal and overturning elections.”

PENNSYLVANIAToday, Josh Shapiro’s campaign for Governor of Pennsylvania released three new television ads, highlighting Josh’s record of taking on big fights for Pennsylvanians and illustrating the dangers of Doug Mastriano’s extreme vision for Pennsylvania. As voters tune in to the race with nearly two months left, these ads will run in media markets across the Commonwealth to communicate to viewers the high stakes of this election.

In “Big Plans,” the narrator highlights the devastating economic impacts of Doug Mastriano’s extreme abortion ban and anti-LGBTQ agenda for Pennsylvania. The ad highlights the examples of Texas and North Carolina, where a radical abortion ban and anti-LGBTQ+ laws – the same kind of laws that Mastriano plans to pass in Pennsylvania – led to job losses and less business in the state. The ad features quotes from Mastriano himself describing his radical views on abortion and same-sex marriage.

In “Laser Focus,” the narrator speaks about the stark contrast between race between Josh Shapiro and Doug Mastriano. The ad reminds voters that Doug Mastriano’s priorities are banning abortion and throwing out Pennsylvanians’ votes, while Josh’s priority is fighting for Pennsylvania families by issuing gas tax rebates, providing more vocational training, and eliminating the college degree requirements for state government jobs.

In “Cheryl,” Cheryl Sorek shares her experience being diagnosed with cancer during the UPMC and Highmark dispute, which jeopardized healthcare access for her and nearly 1.9 million Western Pennsylvanians. In June 2019, Josh Shapiro stood up for Pennsylvanians and helped negotiate a new contract that protected their healthcare coverage for another 10 years. This TV ad will run in the Pittsburgh and Erie media markets, where Pennsylvanians were most affected by this landmark agreement.

With this ad buy, Josh Shapiro’s campaign will continue communicating his values and track record of real leadership and delivering results for millions of Pennsylvania voters, contrasting that with Doug Mastriano’s dangerous and extreme agenda for our Commonwealth.

But Doug Mastriano wants to do both: outlaw abortion…

Doug Mastriano: My body, my choice is ridiculous nonsense.

Narrator: …and gay rights.

Interviewer: Should gay marriage be legal?

Doug Mastriano: Absolutely not.

Narrator: Now Pennsylvania companies have made it clear Mastriano’s plans will cost Pennsylvania jobs.

Doug Mastriano, too risky for Pennsylvania.

For Governor, it’s Josh Shapiro, who’s fighting for us: a gas tax rebate to help families now, more vocational training for a skilled workforce, and eliminating the requirements for a college degree to get thousands of state government jobs.

Josh Shapiro, a Governor who will get it done for us.

Cheryl Sorek: I was diagnosed with a cancer. The first thing that came into my mind is, am I going to live?

The dispute between healthcare insurance companies was not fair. If there hadn’t been an agreement, I would have lost my doctors.

I believe the people of Pennsylvania won because Josh Shapiro took up this fight.

He’s a fighter for the underdog – Josh Shapiro will work for them, not big corporations.
