Over The Weekend: Josh Shapiro Rallies Hundreds of Voters While Mastriano Flops with “Small, Cruel” Rally

PENNSYLVANIA – This weekend, Attorney General Josh Shapiro was on the road meeting with voters in Indiana, Fayette, Greene, Allegheny and Philadelphia counties. Josh continued to build on his diverse coalition, visiting places Democrats don’t always go and rallying hundreds of supporters. He listened to their concerns and priorities, and shared his vision for a better Commonwealth.

Josh returned to Indiana County this weekend after kicking off his campaign there almost one year ago. Voters packed into a locally owned restaurant where Josh spoke about his plans to grow the economy, ensure our children receive a quality education and make our communities safer. From there he went to Fayette and Green counties, where hundreds of voters stood shoulder-to-shoulder, chanting “let’s go Josh!” He reminded them he is not taking one single vote for granted.

As Salena Zito wrote in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Sunday, “Josh Shapiro is building a diverse coalition across Pennsylvania.”

This stands in stark contrast to Doug Mastriano’s weekend. As Josh was gathering crowds and speaking about the issues Pennsylvanians care about, Doug Mastriano’s rally in Harrisburg was dubbed “tremendously low energy” and “an embarrassing showing.” Mastriano urged folks to come to the “big rally,” where 2,000 people were expected to attend. Instead, only 50 people turned up to hear Mastriano spout off dangerous conspiracy theories. Though it wasn’t immediately clear why the event was such a bust, PennLive suggested his supporters appeared to exercise his campaign motto to “walk as free people,” saying “[M]ost of them exercised their personal freedoms to watch a football game, attend a community festival […], and otherwise do anything besides standing through three hours of political speeches on the state Capitol steps.”

While Doug Mastriano continues to alienate Pennsylvania voters with his extreme agenda, Josh will continue to show up in every corner of our Commonwealth and build on the broad coalition of support from Republicans, Democrats, and Independents in order to win in November.
