Josh Shapiro Brings “Big Fights Bus Tour” to Central and Western PA with Visits to Centre, Indiana, & Westmoreland Counties

PENNSYLVANIA – Today, Josh Shapiro brought his “Big Fights Bus Tour” to State College, Indiana, and Greensburg, where he rallied with supporters, visited small businesses, and talked about the issues facing Pennsylvania’s rural communities – highlighting his record of delivering for Pennsylvanians no matter where they live and outlining his vision for a brighter future for the entire Commonwealth.

At his first stop, Commissioners Mark Higgins and Michael Pipe joined Shapiro at Teamsters Local 8 to rally union members and supporters behind Shapiro’s campaign and local Democratic candidates up for election this year. Shapiro spoke about the challenges facing our students and education system and highlighted his record of taking on the big fights for Pennsylvania’s workers and students – from holding the Commonwealth’s largest construction company accountable when they stole from their workers to cancelling over $62 million in debt for student loan borrowers and holding for-profit colleges and predatory lenders accountable.

Following that stop, Shapiro visited downtown Indiana, where Commissioner Sherene Hess led a tour of local businesses. Shapiro learned about the challenges Indiana business owners are facing and discussed how state government can better support Pennsylvania Main Streets and businesses.

In the evening, Commissioner Gina Cerilli joined Shapiro at the Democratic Party office in Greensburg in Westmoreland County, where he pledged to show up and stand up for Pennsylvanians in every corner of the Commonwealth. From growing the economy, creating good-paying jobs, protecting health care, to fully funding our schools – he promised to make sure all voices are heard in Harrisburg – no matter what party they belong to, where they live, or what they look like.

Since launching his campaign last Wednesday, Shapiro has visited 15 counties – from Allegheny and Westmoreland to Philadelphia and Lackawanna. Over the course of his “Big Fights Bus Tour,” Shapiro has rallied hundreds of supporters and helped get out the vote for judicial and municipal candidates up for election in 2021. He will conclude the tour tomorrow visiting three more counties – highlighting his record of taking on the big fights, standing up to those in power, and getting things done for Pennsylvanians.
